On Tuesday, December 22, 2009 members of Bridgewater PBA Local 174
acted as Santa's Helpers when they traveled to St. Peter's Medical
Center with Christmas presents for the children aged from infants to
17 years old, who are recovering in the Pediatric and Pediatric
Intensive Care Wards of the Hospital. Similar to the 2008
"Operation Santa Claus", there was overwhelming joy and feeling of
Christmas in the air. Children, their parents and nursing staff
viewed PBA Local 174 President Mitzak, and other members as blue clad
elves as they made the rounds to each room and presented an age
appropriate gift from "Santa." A 17 year old who received an
IPod from Brother Mitzak was so astounded on opening his gift said "it
was the best present I ever received." Jumping to his feet he
bear hugged Brother Mitzak. As with most PBA functions the
entire PBA Family made this event possible and memorable.
Brother Mitzak's wife and children helped gather the toys and gifts on
the night prior to the event. The Mitzak elves were essential to
the success of the great event as were our Brother's who took their
personal time to spread the Christmas cheer. The time spent with
these children brought out the true meaning of Christmas and the words
"Good Will to All."
